Stephens 92ft - 1978, Refit 2018

August Maverick

Yacht description

August Maverick is a classic sailing boat that offers great accommodation for couples and families alike. There is a large master cabin aft with a king bed and his and hers bathrooms. There are a further two cabins midships, both with twin beds plus a pullman, which is slightly smaller than a twin – a perfect spot for kids. Each have private bathrooms and one has a bathtub! For 9-12 guests there are 2 couches plus air mattress in the salon plus room for 3 in the pilot house.

The main salon has lots of light and an indoor formal dining and seating area. Upstairs from here is the Pilot house with comfortable seating and a bar with a 360-degree view, also has a/c but windows open to the breeze if you prefer. There’s also a shaded aft area, which is perfect for relaxing with a cocktail.

  • It was an awesome trip. Shawn, Victoria and Kendra were great. They were both professional and fun. They managed our family great and worked amazing with the Brandt boat.

Thank you for this incredible respite. We throughly enjoyed not only your expertise but also your company. Thank you for putting up with George’s incessant questions and constant conversations. We will have the most special family memories of our time on August Maverick! Thank you for finding the sunsets.

What a spectacular week aboard August Maverick in an otherwise challenging time (covid-19).

Zack, we loved the meals, especially lamb ragu! Victoria, you are amazing and helped make the trip so comfortable. Shawn, we love your boat, everything was so comfortable and so smooth! You did an awesome job.

Hope to see you all again soon!

    P.S. Loved the chairs!

Thank you for an amazing time. We will always remember Isabel’s 1st sailing adventure on August Maverick!

Thank your for making this an exceptional experience for Mike and I! 2019 proved to be a mix of wonderful experiences, and more difficult one. This trip has helped bring us back to our center.

Note: Can’t tell you enough how excellent we believe your cooking skills are. I preferred your food to the dinner on shore and I’m sure Mike would agree, so thank you for all your efforts.

You are an outstanding, wonderful host. You move so quietly about taking care of all of our needs. You made an exceptional drink! Thank you for all the extra time with moving us about the cabins. Clean sheets, towels, and a cool and cozy room to return to at the end of the day. Thank you, you are a sweet and kind soul.

Thank you most of all, this adventure has meant the world to us. All the points of interest, stops, all had a different atmosphere and feel and memory. I hope this venture means as much to all who have the opportunity in the future. Bless you and your business venture.

We sailed on the August Maverick in late February 2020 Captain Shawn Deweese and his crew, Victoria and chef, Nate were incredible. The voyage exceeded all of our expectations. Shawn chose beautiful bays and coves to moor in with a good mix of serenity and activity. We had a nice mix of water sports such as SUPs, kayaks and snorkeling along with exploring local beaches and watering holes. We enjoyed cocktail hour with awesome beverages and sunsets. We chose half of our dinners on board, and the others at great beach restaurants. The accommodations on board were fabulous. Each berth has its own bathroom and the common areas are very comfortable. Truly was a trip of a lifetime, and I wanted to stay forever. In fact, I inquired if they needed a doctor on board. A lovely respite from a hectic job and cold Minnesota winters. I would enthusiastically recommend August Maverick to anyone wanting a Virgin Island sailing experience. I have traveled extensively, and this trip is tops in my book.

August Maverick is a beautiful vessel — classic design, tastefully updated and lovingly maintained — very well suited to larger groups regardless of weather. The lower salon and berths were spacious and comfortable, but the pilot house is exceptional. Bright and airy, it had enough room to shelter us from the occasional rain, and opened up easily to the aft deck when the sun was shining. It was our favorite space to hang out.

Shawn and the entire crew were outstanding hosts. They were competent, attentive and accommodating, as you would expect from a professional charter company. But what really made our trip so enjoyable was that the crew was also relaxed and fun. And patient — Captain Shawn was willing to share his local knowledge, love of sailing and pride in the August Maverick to answer our endless “newbie” questions.

We had a great trip and would recommend the August Maverick to anyone.
