USVI Sailing Itinerary

This is a sample itinerary for a USVI charter. You, as guests, will have the ability to add the spots you would like to visit and, weather permitting, the crew will endeavor to make sure they are included.

Board the Boat at 12 noon at St Thomas.

Day 1: St Thomas to St John

Take a leisurely afternoon sail to St John to Hawksnest or Maho Bay. You can enjoy watching the turtles come up for air, take a stroll along a pristine beach, or perhaps kayak or paddleboard around the bay. Enjoy sunset drinks and canapes and have a great night’s sleep in your air conditioned cabin.

Day 2: Waterlemon Cay, St John

Move around to Waterlemon Cay further along the north coast of St John where you can snorkel all the way around the cay and/or take a short hike to the Annaberg Sugar Mill ruins for a fascinating historical tour.

Day 3: Salt Pond Bay, St John

Sail around to the Southern anchorages of St John and visit Salt Pond Bay. There is fantastic snorkeling here but, if you fancy stretching your legs, there’s a great hike of around 5km to the petroglyphs (pre-Columbian cave drawings dated at around 1000 years old!).

Day 4-5: St Croix

After breakfast, an option you might like to consider is to sail South to the island of St Croix. This may take 4-5 hours but does give you a great option of a comfortable beam reach sail, and perhaps catch a fish on the way. Spending a couple of nights here is perfect and gives you the opportunity to hire a car and visit old plantation houses or go to Norma’s Domino Club and feed their pigs cans of beer, which they love! If you fancied a more peaceful visit then Buck Island National Park is the perfect spot. This is the spot that features in the last scene of Shawshank Redemption and is the epitome of a Caribbean island.

Alternative Day 4: Cruz Bay, St John

If you decide against sailing to St Croix an alternative itinerary could be to sail around to Cruz Bay the capital of St John. This beautiful town offers funky shops and great restaurants. This would be a good place to hire a jeep and explore the land side of St John. Being 75% National Park you will discover hidden beaches and ranforest trails. The evening will be spent in the protection of Caneel Bay.

Alternative Day 5: Magens Bay, St Thomas

Sail to the North of St Thomas to Magens Bay.  This has the longest beach in the USVI which comes complete with loungers and drinks service!  Fancy a bit more action, this is the perfect spot to break out the water toys.

Day 6: Great St James Island

Sail to Christmas Cove on Great St James Island. Enjoy an afternoon of snorkelling and yet another sunset happy hour!

Day 7: St Thomas

Take the short sail over to St Thomas in time for your departure flight.
